SHE'S HOME!!!

So, Julia and I traveled 139453450934830968 hours in the car this weekend to go fetch her from Rexburg. And I think I'm going to be a snowbird and live in Idaho in the summer. 66 degrees at night in July?? Yes please. So...this is who mac computer thought Julia looked like. One of these things is not like the other. Hmm..

Justification

So I've been working at Scrapbooks Etc  for 4 1/2 years. And I've gotten pretty good at justifying the need to buy just about everything I want. So when this line came out....

I realized I NEEDED it! So to justify this purchase, I decided to take a pic every day from July 1 until my first day of 2nd block nursing school. Then I can scrapbook all my fun summer memories and look at them when my life become possessed by things like lab values, phlebotomy, pathophysiology, big words,  lots of reading, and I want to cry every day. And then I can remember what my friends look like when I have my 4 month hermit-ness.  Finished project to be displayed shortly!!

:(

So remember this????? Apparently my foot had let it's guard down when moving furniture. It no longer quivered in fear when a heavy object approached it. Oh right foot. So foolish. So today, when Laura and I were moving a couch, this happened:

And yes I am investing stock in these:

Thank you, Dr. McKay for finishing off what I did. And thank you Scrapbooks Etc for being wise and sending me home when my bandaid was leaking blood all over the place.

Bucket list

So I really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really want to go here. I'm fully vaccinated and thanks to Project Ayuda and President Clinton, I'm getting some serious $$ come the beginning of 2012. Takers??

Things I Love/Hate

Remember when we used to do "Things We Love/Hate" blog posts all the time? Well in lieu of doing my nursing school homework, it's blogging time.

Things I Love:

My boyfriend aka Mike Rowe being the narrator on Human Planet. How I love listening to his melodic voice for 10 hours while learning about people living in weird places.

Other things I love? My year six month one month supply of Cadbury mini eggs. Yeah, I have 4 bags. I figure come August, I can use these bags of magical goodness as currency for some things.

And the last thing I love? These little guys:

And do you know who hates these shoes? Julia.

Okay, just one more thing I love. This is the caramel flan from Cafe Rio. I get teary just looking at it again..

Things I feel mediocre about:

This is what my life has become, peeps. How to give intradermal shots via a hot dog. Cool point: it works just like your arm does when your arm gets a shot.

Lastly:

Things I hate/not a big fan of

This is where I get to spend my Fridays. My clinical site. We have a love/hate relationship right now. Love that this Friday is my last one. Love that it's in snooty Scottsdale and therefore a nice facility. Hate: waking up at 3:30 am to get there on time. Something that they don't tell you until you're in nursing school? Nursing school has NO TOLERANCE for being late. They really don't like it. FYI.

Okay, okay. Last thing I love.

This is the greatest restaurant of all time aka Buffalo Chip. My friends and I discovered it and it is amazing. It's a bbq/mexican food/country band/bull riding restaurant. They have food inside with live country music. And outside? A bullriding competition that you can pay to enter. And it's awesome. It's in Cave Creek aka the other side of the world, but totally worth the drive!

However..

Things I hate...

When I called in sick to my clinical (you're only allowed one absence) and then that night, the head of the nursing department saw me at Buffalo Chip. And called me out on it in front of the whole class. I told her that my doctor prescribed dust and the smell of cow poop as my medication..it didn't work.

Book time!!!

So, I have to drive like 203420938469384576 miles 4x a week for school. Basically, me and the 202 Loop are bff. After getting tired of the radio in 2 seconds, I thought of the GENIUS idea of listening to books on my ipod. It seriously saved me. And I've already busted out 3. Reviews are:

Okay, secret about me. I am obsessed with reading memoirs. But I'm really picky about them. A lot of them are all psychology-y and too serious. If I want to read a book about someone dying, I'll just watch a movie on Lifetime instead. This book is about the food critic for the NY Times and about his life. SO good!! And the author gets all describe-y about Italian food and how they made it and I loved it. Like the food network in book form.

Next:

So since I have a mac, there aren't very many audio books that are compatible with my computer. So, I can't be too picky. Hence, The Wizard of Oz. Movie's better, Judy Garland is awesome, but I did feel good reading a "classic."

And finally:

Okay, this book is SERIOUSLY out of control. The movie is good, but what I didn't know is that this guy/Leonardo DiCaprio did all his crazy swindling and stealing tons of money before he was 21 years old. Crazy. This guy has guts.

So, I've got 4 weeks left of school, so roughly 20 hours left of driving in the car. Next on my list:

I'm listening/reading this one next because this person  read it last year and said it was one of the better ones she read last year. And she's pretty cool.

Dear blog world,
I am alive and not dead in a snow drift. In fact there is currently no snow.
So this is fun and all:
 But I miss these peeps:

And these ones, minus swamp rat:

And a few more:

And especially this homegirl:

P.S. It was 60 degrees in the Berg today! Halle-freaking-lujah. I walked to wal greens with no jacket. It was bliss!
AZ if you are over 80 when I am home in a week I will be NOT HAPPY.

Love,
Bubs

Food coma

If you ever have the pleasure to be cool enough to have backyard burgers at our uncle Neil's house, consider yourself lucky. We wait with anticipation for someone in their family to get married/baptized/graduated/bless a baby because eating hamburgers and french fries and onion rings and homemade fry sauce and Thrifty ice cream is an experience. Thank you, Rachel, for giving birth to precious Royce and blessing him so we could hamburger it up!!!! It is the only thing that holds us over right now when the State Fair is still 6 months away. ....

(This picture of food doesn't even do it justice. This pic is like a 2, our food was like a 1002349783400.

Fletchers in the midst of getting their food coma on....

Bubs, don't drool on your computer screen...

new kind of education

So, nursing school is kind of killer. And I've had to give up all of my tv in lieu of this kind of educational programming. Goodbye Grey's, 90210, Gossip Girl, Bones, any kind of teen angst show, TLC. See you in May....
